with Rachel O’Neill

Rachel O’Neill is a myofascial release therapist in Dunedin FL offering one-on-one sessions trained in the John F. Barnes myofascial release approach.

Work with me

This is not passive treatment. It’s an education in your own body.

Every session is part assessment, part treatment, part teaching. You’ll leave understanding more about what’s happening in your tissue — and with tools to continue the work between appointments.

What a session looks like

01

We start by listening.

Before hands ever meet tissue, we talk. Where have you been? What have you tried? What does your body feel like from the inside? Your history matters — all of it.

02

The work is sustained and unhurried.

The Barnes approach uses gentle, sustained pressure — holding at the point of resistance and waiting for the tissue to release on its own terms. You’ll likely feel things shift in ways that surprise you.

03

You're an active participant.

This isn’t something done to you while you switch off. You’ll be asked to notice, to breathe, to track sensation. That awareness is part of the work.

04

We debrief.

Before you leave, we’ll talk through what came up and what to pay attention to. You’ll go home with something to think about — and usually something to do.

You might be in the right place if…

You have chronic pain or tension that hasn’t fully resolved despite treatment

You’ve been told nothing is structurally wrong — but something clearly is

You’ve tried massage, physio, or chiro and felt temporary relief but no lasting change

You’re recovering from injury, surgery, or a period of significant stress

You’re an athlete or active person dealing with recurring tightness or restriction

You’re ready to understand your own body — not just manage symptoms

This might not be for you if…

You’re looking for a relaxation massage, want to be told exactly what’s wrong and have it fixed, or aren’t ready to engage actively in the process.

That’s okay. This work isn’t for everyone. When it’s the right fit, it changes things.

Common questions

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on how long the patterns have been present and how your body responds. Most people notice a shift within two or three sessions. Chronic or complex cases take longer. We’ll be honest with you about what to expect.

What should I wear?

Please wear loose fitting shorts. Women are welcome to wear a sports bra or tank top. One important note: please avoid applying any body lotions, creams, or oils before your appointment — the work requires direct contact with the skin and lubricants interfere with the technique.

What's the difference between MFR and massage?

Massage generally works on the muscles. Myofascial release works with the fascia — the system of tissue that runs through and around everything in your body, from skin to bone. Restrictions in fascia create pain and tension patterns that often show up somewhere other than where the problem actually is.

Do you take insurance?

No. Sessions are private pay. A superbill is available upon request for possible reimbursement through HSA/FSA accounts.
